FAQs - Dynamics Planning
What does being a member of the
Dynamics Conference Planning Committee involve?
Each Planning Committee operates along the same timelines / guidelines, however this is not cast in stone. Decisions regarding teleconferences and meetings, etc are at the discretion of the Conference Planning Chair.
1. The type of work required, time commitment (hrs/ week/month?)
Conference planning encompasses all aspects of the conference: call for abstracts, abstract review, brochures, speakers, audio visual requirements, meal requirements, special events (ie. Annual Dinner, receptions), delegate bags, etc.
The planning committee for 2013 will commence conference planning in May / June 2012, in order to complete the Call for Abstracts 2013 (deadline mid-July 2012), along with the invitation to the conference which will be presented at the Dynamics 2012 conference in October 2012.
The committee usually meets via teleconference and will likely have an onsite meeting in Halifax, NS in February, March or April 2013.
2. How many people will be on the committee?
The conference planning committee will generally have no more than six (6) members, in addition to the Planning Chair and CACCN Chief Operating Officer.
3. Is this a volunteer position?
Participation on the conference planning committee is a volunteer position. However, approved expenses are paid out of the conference budget for planning members, including travel, meals, conference tuition, and hotel accommodation during the conference.
Please review the Conference Planning Agreement (currently under revision)
4. What support is provided by CACCN staff?
The Chief Operating Officer for CACCN is an integral part of the conference planning process. The COO provides support to the Conference Planning Chair and the committee throughout the planning process.
5. Is a professional conference planner used etc?
We do not use a professional conference planner for Dynamics.
Planning the conference does require a certain level of commitment, but is a really exciting and rewarding experience.
