Also, correction to 4.0- members will be offered $10 off their CACCN membership if they sign up on Edge day, not a free lunch kit. Welcome to the New Executive Thank you to Rose, Sandra & Trica for their years of service to CACCN. Welcome to the new members. The names, position title & e-mail of the committee member will be posted on the website, as well as in the newsletters. The future dates of the meetings were sent out. Edge of Excellence Update The Edge committee has their ‘wrap up’ meeting next week. Still waiting for some $ to come in from sponsors & dealing with one NSF cheque. The conference balance is not final yet, but should be around +$600. Some unexpected large charges, such as the projector rental x 2. Attendance including executive & sponsors =82. There are approx. 30-40 flashsticks left over. Rose had sent an e-mail to National offering the remainder if they wanted an attendee gift. Rose will also contact other chapters to see if they would like to purchase some. Notes from the presenters (minus Dr. Kumar’s) will be available on the website. Rose & Rhonda to e-mail them to Lissa. Rose reviewed some of the evaluation comments: flowers not necessary many attendees wanted hand outs 32 liked the attendee gifts vs. 22 could forego the gifts. Topics, speakers & cost were deciding factors for attending a conference. Few negative food comments. Some comments on the timing of breaks ie. Breakfast to close to lunch. A/V- some feedback especially during CSI. Some ideas for future gifts; pens, mugs, t-shirts, spa gift cert., stethoscope draw, gift cert. for uniforms, pocket guides. Some comments of having concrete topics for the junior staff. Why does it cost more than critical eye? (Lissa theorized that it may be more broad & appeal to other professions than nursing, whereas CACCN is nurses). Ped’s topics- this has been tried in the past, but not well attended, though there are some Ped’s CACCN members. Speaker evaluations were reviewed & will be compiled & send out in a letter by Rose. Edge of Excellence Update Chair Guidelines will now require 1 person of the co-chair to be an executive member. These guidelines will be sent out by Lissa for review in September. The next meeting in September will elicit interest for this position. There is one potential non-executive co-chair, but not confirmed. Hotel Booking Chris & Lissa have a meeting with the Delta Winnipeg to discuss holding a conference there. If the Delta does not work out, they may go ahead & book the usual May date @ the Norwood. Dynamics Coupons Lissa has a full tuition & 2- $100 coupons. There have been some executive that may be going. Lissa requested a final confirmation of who would be going by next Thursday & she would draw for the tuition. If there are no takers for these coupons, it would next go to former executive (ie. Trica). Lissa is going to Chapter Connections Day on the Saturday before the conference. She is able to bring one extra person. Goals The Goals had been e-mailed out by Lissa & reviewed. The recognition award criteria is final & sent out. The only change may be to the name of the award, which will be discussed @ the next meeting. Some education sessions have already been planned including lab values with Sandra Christie in January/February 2010, one for Nov/Dec. & the Sim. Labs. It is hoped to send out these event dates with the fall newsletter. We will plan for 2 newsletters & update our constitution. Responsibilities of Members Lissa will be sending these out for the executive to review & make changes if necessary in the fall. Lissa will also be sending out updates for the binders. Newsletter It was determined that the individual executive write-ups will need to be in by September 14th in hopes to get the newsletter out by October 5th. The feature ICU will be Seven Oakes with Kendra as the contact. Ideas for ‘Ask the Expert’ include; ID- especially now that we are dealing with respiratory illnesses. Also, suggested a medication related question posed to Rob Ariano. Executive is to send ideas to Sara. It is hoped that Claudette will help with the formatting. Open Forum Tannis had applied for funding with CACCN for her ACLS instructor @ a cost of $500. The committee approved the funding on the receipt of a submission of the course, as per the education funding guidelines.
