January 2022: CACCN/CCCN Joint Membership
The Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN) and the Canadian Counsel of Cardiovascular Nurses (CCCN) is pleased to announce a joint membership opportunity for registered nurses. The CACCN and CCCN joint membership is a value add for members of both associations – offering access to collaborating with a wider network of peers and access to double the resources and benefits. Effective February 2022 individuals may choose to join both organizations at the same time with a reduced membership fee (Save $10). Read more

Over the past two years, the Editorial Team in collaboration with the Editorial Review Board and the National Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses (CACCN) have had conversations regarding The Canadian Journal of Critical Care Nursing™ (CJCCN). Our aim has been to ensure that the CJCCN continues to be a major vehicle for critical care nursing scholarship and knowledge dissemination in Canada and internationally. While the fight against this public health crisis continues, never have we had such a stark reminder of the vital role that nurses play in our healthcare system. As the last fourteen months have demonstrated, the impact that nurses and critical care nurses have made on the health of Canadians cannot be overstated.
National Nursing Week was established to emphasize our profession’s accomplishments. This year, we are honouring the passion, compassion, courage, stamina, and commitment of critical care nurses across Canada and abroad. Despite the toll the pandemic has taken, you continue to deliver the best care possible for your patients and families. We acknowledge the sacrifices you have made and the challenging experiences you have endured – we see you; we hear you, and we support you.
Today, on International Nurses Day, “It’s Our Time” to recognize and appreciate our critical care nursing colleagues and to unite with the Canadian nursing community in celebrating our contributions to the health of Canadians.

Critical care nurses in many areas of Canada are on the brink of collapse. They were already in limited supply before the pandemic. Now they are exhausted, traumatized, sad, and fed up with the politics surrounding their care. No, they are not “managing,” and they are not OK. They do not have much left to give.
